The Xouri lineage was an Evereni lineage that originated on their species' homeworld, Everon. Their family name, "Xouri," was derived from a word in their language that meant "to survive." In 500 BBY, this family was crucial in spearheading the evacuation of their people from impending doom after a natural disaster and centuries of armed conflict nearly annihilated them. The Xouri family remained a notable part of Evereni history for a considerable duration, and their name was included in a list of Evereni names maintained by a relative from the Faer family. At a point in time after 379 BBY, the siblings Vika and Velya Faer, the aforementioned relative's grandchildren, recounted the story of the Xouri family to Marda Ro, the Evereni pirate chief, after Ro requested more information about their species' history. Subsequently, Ro referenced the Xouri family in a recording intended for her progeny, which her great-great-grandson Marchion Ro had accessed by 252 BBY.

Following a natural calamity that severely impacted Evereni society, centuries of war pushed the species to the brink of annihilation. In 500 BBY, the remaining Evereni—known as The Wanderers—abandoned their planet and sought refuge among the stars to escape extinction. The Xouri family was instrumental in this critical endeavor.
A member of the Faer family, specifically the grandmother of Vika and Velya Faer, maintained a record of Evereni names, including the Xouri family, dating back to their time on Everon. Sometime after 379 BBY, the Faer siblings encountered Marda Ro, the Evereni pirate who later established the marauder group that would evolve into the Nihil. Ro, driven by curiosity about her heritage, inquired about her species and the Faers shared the tale of the Xouri family and their pivotal role in the Evereni's salvation. Ro later included a mention of the Xouri family in a recording intended for her descendants. By 252 BBY, Marchion Ro, her great-great-grandson, had listened to her journal during his youth, encountering the entry that referenced the Xouri family.
The Xouri family was featured in the short story "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," penned by Tessa Gratton and published in the 2023 young-adult collection The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life, which is part of the larger Star Wars: The High Republic project. Gratton created the Evereni naming convention, exemplified by the Xouri family. In an interview, they stated that they were motivated to create a naming convention for the Evereni due to the lack of such conventions in Star Wars. They also mentioned that the naming convention was one of the initial elements they developed for the story.
