Yde was a celestial body situated within the Yde system. This system was located in the Nicandra sector, itself a part of the New Territories region of the Mid Rim.
The first mention of Yde occurred in the 1993 publication Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas. This book, authored by Bob Carrau, combined creature designs and photographs from various projects by Star Wars creator George Lucas with original text. Within the book, Yde was presented as a celestial object and the location of Desultori. Desultori was identified as the home of Aanxi Raanxi Laanxi, an alien inventor and scholar who presided over four subcommittees for the University of Desultori.
Leland Chee, a Lucasfilm employee who curates the Holocron continuity database, has clarified that the information in Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas is considered non-canonical within the Star Wars Legends continuity. However, Jason Fry, the co-author of The Essential Atlas (2009), indicated that the star systems listed in the appendix of the book are named after the most prominent planets or celestial bodies within those systems. Consequently, this article regards the existence of Yde as canonical within Legends continuity. The Essential Atlas positioned the Yde system within grid M-7.
