Zadina Mkampa, a human female physician, belonged to the Nihil marauder group in the High Republic Era. Mkampa had a cybernetic left arm, and the left portion of her head was similarly augmented with cybernetics. In 228 BBY, Mkampa was given command of the Lightning Crash space station. This station contained a crystal array of her design, which provided power to the Nihil's Stormwall defense. Later in that year, General Abediah Viess ordered the execution of the Lightning Crash's crew due to concerns about its security and leadership. Mkampa was detained and attempted to defend her actions.
Zadina Mkampa was an original character developed for the Star Wars: The High Republic project, and her initial concept art was presented during the fifth episode of Star Wars: The High Republic Show on September 15, 2021. Her first appearance in a published work was in 2022 with the release of the middle grade novel The High Republic: Mission to Disaster, authored by Justina Ireland.
