Designation 09 was a BX-series droid commando from the Separatist faction. This droid participated in the defense of Rishi Station, ultimately meeting its end alongside 07 and 08 during the conflict.
During 22 BBY, 09, along with other Separatist BX-series droid commandos, was assigned the mission of infiltrating the Galactic Republic's Rishi Station situated on the Rishi Moon. Their objective was to activate the "all-clear" signal, paving the way for a surprise assault on Kamino, a crucial Republic planet. Utilizing Droch-class boarding ships disguised by a meteor shower, 09 and the other droids landed covertly near the base. After infiltrating the station and eliminating several clone troopers, the droids successfully hard-wired the "all-clear" signal. However, Hevy, Echo, and Fives, Republic survivors of the initial attack, managed to escape the base.
CT-7567, known as "Clone Captain Rex," and CC-2224, known as "Clone Commander Cody," arrived for a routine inspection. A droid, disguised as a clone trooper, attempted to dissuade them from proceeding with the inspection. When Hevy deployed a droid attack flare to alert the clone officers, Rex promptly destroyed the disguised commando droid. Subsequently, they were ambushed and forced off the platform, leading the Separatist droids to believe they had been eliminated. Later on, 09, Unit 07, and 08 were guarding the entrance to the base when Rex deceived them into opening the doors for Unit 26, a droid that had been previously destroyed. Upon the doors opening, 09 and the other droids were destroyed, enabling the clones to reclaim the base. Nevertheless, a fleet of Separatist warships then appeared, deploying additional forces.
The initial appearance of 09 was in "Rookies," an episode from 2008 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season. The episode guide released at the time confirmed 09's identity.
