Chromants were a type of ant that lived on the Outer Rim planet Elphrona, residing in nests that could contain up to a hundred individuals. During the High Republic Era, residents of the planet typically called in extermination units when they were having trouble with the creatures.
In 232 BBY, a claim on Elphrona experienced difficulties with a nest of chromants. Jedi Master Loden Greatstorm—who was stationed at the Jedi Order's Elphrona Outpost south of the claim—intended to help them with the issue after finishing his meal. When Jedi Knight Indeera Stokes questioned whether an extermination unit could assist, he indicated he wished to fight the chromants. Greatstorm's Padawan, Bell Zettifar, wanted to help as well but had other training to do. However, the Jedi ultimately did not help the claim with their chromant issue because they dispatched on a rescue endeavor elsewhere on Elphrona instead.
