A duel took place in the Senate Plaza on the galactic capital of Coruscant in 43.5 ABY. In that year, several Jedi Knights had begun to contract a Force psychosis that caused them to believe that everyone they knew had been replaced by impostors. The Chev Jedi Knight Sothais Saar developed the psychosis while reporting to the Chief of State's aide, Wynn Dorvan. After he fled the Senate Building, Saar was confronted by Jedi Master Cilghal in the Senate Plaza. The two entered into a brief duel, during which Cilghal overpowered Saar and knocked him unconscious. Saar was then taken into custody in the Jedi Temple.
Around the time following the Second Galactic Civil War, several Jedi Knights began to contract a Force psychosis that caused them to believe that everyone they knew had been replaced by impostors. The Galactic Alliance decided to deal with the issue by encasing the afflicted Jedi in carbonite, much to the chagrin of the Jedi Order.
In 43.5 ABY, Chev Jedi Knight Sothais Saar developed the psychosis while he was giving a report to Galactic Alliance Chief of State Natasi Daala's personal aide, Wynn Dorvan, in the Senate Building on the galactic capital of Coruscant. When Dorvan realized what had happened to Saar, he told the Jedi that he was unarmed, and Saar decided to flee. Dorvan attempted to lock the building down, but with the aid of the Force, Saar was able to escape before the order could be enacted.
In the Senate Plaza outside the building, Saar was quickly confronted by the Mon Calamari Jedi Master Cilghal, who knew from past experiences with Jedi affected by the psychosis that Saar could not be reasoned with. They began to duel, and Saar quickly took the offensive, but Cilghal did not fall for his feints or his attempts to get her off-balance. Finding himself overpowered, Saar attempted to back-flip away from her, but the Jedi Master pushed him in midair, slamming him against a nearby building and knocking him unconscious. The Chev was taken into custody in the Jedi Temple, and Jedi Knight Jaina Solo prepared to take him offworld to keep him safe from Galactic Alliance persecution.
The Galactic Alliance soon dispatched Coruscant Security officers to force the Jedi Order to hand over the psychotic Knight, but the Jedi refused. Daala then decided that she needed to teach the Jedi a lesson and hired Mandalorians to attack the Jedi Temple. The Jedi suffered no casualties, but the raid crippled Temple communications and coordination, and a subsequent Galactic Alliance blockade on the Temple prevented Solo from escaping with Saar.
The duel first appeared in the fourth Fate of the Jedi novel—and author Aaron Allston's second installment in the series—Fate of the Jedi: Backlash, which was released in 2010.
