An electro-pulse was a hand-held electromagnetic pulse device that disabled machines on contact. It was a brown, rectangular device that consisted of a number of buttons with a gold ring on top. Upon landing on Heva during his hunt for the Sith Lord Darth Vader in 1 BBY. the cyborg bounty hunter Beilert Valance took an electro-pulse with him as he knew that Vader was a cyborg like himself, and the device could disable Vader's cybernetics.
When he and his team took on the Sith Lord, Valance used the deaths of the slicer Chio Fain and the tracker Honnah as an opportunity to close the distance and activate the device. While Valance managed to place the device on Vader's cape, he failed to activate it in time when the Sith turned around and caught the bounty hunter off-guard.
The electro-pulse was first mentioned in the third issue of the 2019 comic-book miniseries Star Wars: Target Vader, written by Robbie Thompson and published by Marvel Comics on September 25, 2019. The device made its first appearance in the fourth issue of the comic, which was also written by Thompson, illustrated by Stefano Landini, and published by Marvel Comics on October 9, 2019.
