The spaceport prefect's office, also called the Mos Eisley prefect's office, was a law enforcement agency building situated on Straight Street within the spaceport of Mos Eisley on the planet of Tatooine. During 7958 C.R.C., Sedra Hoxin held the position of a police constable at this office. He sent an annual Life Day greeting card to Inspector Tanivos Divo from the Coruscant Security Force, providing updates on Boba Fett, who led the Krayt's Claw bounty hunter group operating out of Mos Eisley. In 0 BBY, two Imperial stormtroopers were stationed as guards outside the structure.
The 1977 original trilogy movie, Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, featured the Mos Eisley prefect's office for the first time. The 2016 Star Wars canon reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations initially identified it as the spaceport prefect's office. Later, the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, penned by Pablo Hidalgo, further clarified its identity as the Mos Eisley prefect's office. The name originated from the 2004 Star Wars Legends reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, authored by James Luceno.
