The human Naley Frifa worked as an outlaw tech and a tattoo artist during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Rarely out-of-work, she made illegal modifications and repairs to starships or equipment and inked both gang symbols and electro-tattoos capable of carrying data. In 10 BBY, Frifa was a patron of the Lodge, a saloon in Fort Ypso on the icey planet Vandor.
While at the Lodge, Frifa was part of a crowd that watched a game of Corellian Spike sabacc being played on a table in one of the venue's backrooms. She was stood with drink in hand besides another human and a pillar when Han Solo, a new addition to the game, first took his seat directly in front of her. The tattoo artist then continued drinking and chatting with other patrons by the pillar as Solo played a number of rounds, eventually betting his starship against that of his opponent Lando Calrissian. Frifa leaned on the pillar as she and the rest of the crowd watched the table intently, cheering when Solo revealed straight staves, before Calrissian revealed a Full Sabacc and won the round.
Naley Frifa had black hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. She had a stylised depiction of a hyperspace simu-tunnel tattooed in black across her torso, with other black tattoos on her arms including the word "Hiro" in High Galactic on her left forearm.
Frifa was multi-talented and was skilled at tattoo artistry, adept in both gang symbols and electro-tattoos.
While at the Lodge, Frifa wore a dark blue jumpsuit with light brown ribbing around the waste and sleeves, with a brown belt, and black boots. On her right arm she wore a golden bangle and on her right she wore a white and brown bracelet, with a black fingerless glove on her left hand. She also had her lips colored black and black eye-shadow on while at the venue.
Naley Frifa was portrayed by British-Chinese actress and tattoo artist L'ain Freefall in the Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was released on the May 25, 2018. The character was revealed prior to the release of the film in "Solo: A Star Wars Story 360," a promotional video posted by the official Star Wars YouTube account on May 4, 2018. She was first identified in the reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo and released alongside the film. Frifa's name is a partial anagram of Freefall's, and the actress was pleased with the role and proud of taking part in something as big as Star Wars as a woman of color.
