In 4 BBY aboard the Ghost, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Ahsoka Tano trace an Imperial distress call to the planet Quila. They discover the signal is coming from an Imperial freighter, the hull of which appears to have suffered asteroid damage. The freighter has crashed into the water on the planet's surface and is rapidly sinking, and Wren and Tano swim down into the wreckage in search of Wren's contact, Janard, who had been held prisoner on the freighter.
As they swim through the section of the freighter that is already underwater, Wren and Tano discover the area is completely abandoned, including the prison cell where Janard had been held. Wren expresses her anxiety around water after half of her is disconnected and she struggles to breathe, adding that water also ruins art. They soon find Janard and fight off the stormtroopers who had captured him, but the group is cornered by an Imperial officer and more soldiers, who announce that an Imperial evac ship has arrived.
Syndulla arrives in the Ghost and fights off the evac ship while the others prepare to escape the sinking freighter. However, just as it seems the Imperials are defeated and the rebels are about to board the Ghost, a wounded stormtrooper shoots Janard in the back. He dies in Wren's arms as he apologizes for his past actions turning in a cadet, and he encourages the rebels to keep fighting to make the galaxy free again.
