Ord Vaug

Ord Vaug was a planet in the Expansion Region's Rocantor sector. The site of a major Imperial propaganda victory over Separatist holdouts in 17 BBY, Ord Vaug was the site of an Imperial prison that at one point held the Venerated Ones of Vandelhelm. Ord Vaug was liberated by the Alliance of Free Planets in 4 ABY, and the Venerated Ones returned home.

Description

The planet Ord Vaug was located in the Ord Vaug system of the Expansion Region's Rocantor sector. Ord Vaug's natural environment was marked by rainforests, and had an atmosphere easily breathable for Humans.

History

Ord Vaug had origins as one of the Galactic Republic's Ordnance/Regional Depots during the Pius Dea Era, specifically during the Fifteenth Pius Dea Crusade centered on nearby Old Barag in 11,591 BBY. Many millennia later, Ord Vaug became the site of a highly publicized battle during the Imperial Western Reaches Operation against Separatist holdouts in 17 BBY, where General Hurst Romodi secured a major victory in front of HoloNet News crews—the battle on Ord Vaug was later adapted into a holodrama.

During the Imperial Period, Ord Vaug was the site of an Imperial prison that held foreign dignitaries, including the young Venerated Ones of the planet Vandelhelm. The two children, Lillindri "Lilli" Nanimei Filda Vandelhelm XXXII and her younger brother Endrodanar "Endro" Tiopuld Shaamador Vandelhelm XXIV, were confined on Ord Vaug for three years as part of a scheme to exert Imperial control over Vandelhelm's valuable metalsmithing industry. The Alliance of Free Planets liberated Ord Vaug in 4 ABY, freeing the prisoners—afterwards, Alliance heroes Han Solo and Nien Nunb were dispatched to Ord Vaug in order to bring the Venerated Ones home.

Behind the scenes

Ord Vaug briefly appeared in Star Wars (1977) 98, written by Archie Goodwin, illustrated by Al Williamson and released in 1985. Although initially only identified as an Imperial prison planet, Ord Vaug was later named in the 2004 Wizards of the Coast supplement Vandelhelm: Enemies and Alloys, written by Cory J. Herndon.
