Selch, a brutal marauder of the Nihil and a Falleen, was a devoted acolyte of the ruthless General Abediah Viess. However, as losses mounted within Viess's ranks, Selch found herself swayed by the ideals of Ghirra Starros, the Nihil's Minister of Information and a senator from the Galactic Republic, who proposed an alternative path for the organization. In 228 BBY, on the planet Hetzal, Selch secretly contacted Starros, revealing that numerous others shared the senator's perspective.
During the High Republic Era, Selch, a Falleen, served as a member of the Nihil marauders. By 229 BBY, she had risen to become a favored follower of General Abediah Viess, the leader of the Nihil's Ministry of Protection. In that year, on the day before the anniversary of the destruction of the Galactic Republic's Starlight Beacon space station by the Nihil, Selch was present at the Nihil's base on the planet Hetzal, within the raiders' Occlusion Zone territory. The Falleen was among the many Nihil in attendance at a celebration led by the Eye of the Nihil, Marchion Ro.
Ro disrupted the festivities by playing a recording of a speech delivered to the Galactic Senate by Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh, in which she vowed to prevent the Nihil from commemorating the anniversary with an attack. The assembled Nihil were silent and unsure of how to react, until Ro stood and ridiculed Soh's promises, prompting laughter and cheers from the raiders. Selch cheered loudly before turning and smiling at Ghirra Starros, a Republic senator who had allied herself with the Nihil as their Minister of Information.
Later, in 228 BBY, Selch was on Hetzal after the reporter Rhil Dairo escaped from captivity with the assistance of Jedi Masters Avar Kriss and Porter Engle. After Starros suggested that Ro permit their escape, believing it could serve as leverage to secure political influence for the Nihil and gain legitimacy within the Senate, Ro rejected the idea and instead incited the marauders against the Jedi. As Starros departed, Selch approached her in secret, leaning in to confide that she and many others shared the senator's viewpoint, having been persuaded of a different strategy due to the rising deaths within Viess's forces. The Falleen then continued on her way, leaving Starros overjoyed that her ideas were resonating.
As a follower of General Viess of the Nihil, Selch had frequently been commended for her toughness and brutality. However, the increasing number of deaths under Viess's command led the Falleen to embrace Starros's belief in an alternative approach for the Nihil. When informing Starros that many Nihil agreed with her, Selch displayed an uncharacteristic seriousness, standing close to the senator and briefly looking into her eyes to emphasize her point. Selch was a tall, slender individual with dark skin.
Selch made her debut in the 2023 novel The High Republic: The Eye of Darkness, penned by George Mann as a component of Phase III of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
