Vulcar

Vulcar, a malevolent planet of orange hue and sulfurous nature, resided within the Vulcar system. This system was situated in the Juvex sector of the galaxy's Mid Rim. A hyperlane, a branch extending from the Senex-Juvex Loop, provided a connection to the worlds of Tinallis and Tyluun. Due to the acrid atmosphere and the presence of the infamous Sulphur Pits of Vulcar, employing humanoid laborers for the extraction of the world's oridium deposits was hardly a worthwhile venture. Consequently, droids of various models, including crab droids repurposed as miners, were the primary workforce, toiling until they succumbed to rust and ceased functioning. In the year 15 BBY, following a delivery of R2-D2 and C-3PO to the planet Dodz, an Intergalactic Droid Agency shuttle journeyed to the Sulphur Pits of Vulcar.

Production Notes

The initial mention of Vulcar occurred in Droids (1986) 1, the debut issue of the Star Wars: Droids comic series, a Star Wars Legends publication from Star Comics, an arm of Marvel Comics. This issue was released on April 1, 1986. The planet's visual representation and placement in grid square L-18 were first established in The Essential Atlas, a reference book authored by Jason Fry and [Daniel Wallace]((/article/daniel_wallace) in 2009.
