Aaida

During the Jedi Civil War, on Telos IV, lived a Human female named Aaida. She was a survivor of the Sith's devastating world bombardment in 3958 BBY. Evacuation efforts caused her separation from her husband, Lootra. Seven years later, Aaida found herself on Nar Shaddaa, where Meetra Surik, the Jedi Exile, facilitated her reunion with Lootra.

Biography

The Jedi Civil War

In the early years of the Jedi Civil War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire of Darth Revan, Aaida and her husband, Lootra, resided on Telos IV, a planet located in the Outer Rim.

The year 3958 BBY saw Saul Karath, a Rear Admiral within the Republic Navy, betray the Republic and join the Sith. Shortly after, he commanded a fleet to attack Telos IV, demanding the planet's capitulation. Upon refusal by the inhabitants, Darth Malak commanded an orbital bombardment to devastate the world. Aaida and Lootra survived the destructive attack, but were unfortunately separated during the subsequent evacuation. Aaida managed to board a civilian ship and escape, while her husband boarded a different vessel. Aaida believed the Sith spared her ship to have living witnesses of the destruction. The refugee-filled ship then jumped from star system to star system, narrowly avoiding the pursuing Sith warships.

On Nar Shaddaa

Aaida was forced to live in the Refugee Sector.

After years of fleeing, Aaida began to lose hope of ever seeing her husband again. Seven years passed, and in 3951 BBY, during the First Jedi Purge, Aaida was living within the Refugee Sector of Nar Shaddaa, the moon and ecumenopolis orbiting Nal Hutta.

During this time, Lootra had been traveling from planet to planet in search of her. He arrived on Nar Shaddaa at the same time as Aaida. Meetra Surik, the Jedi Exile who was searching for Jedi Master Zez-Kai Ell, approached Lootra. He requested Surik's assistance in locating his wife, to which she agreed. Surik successfully found Aaida within the Refugee Sector and informed her of her husband's presence, but Aaida was unable to leave due to the Exchange guards blocking the exit. The Exile dealt with the guards, allowing Aaida to leave the Refugee Sector and reunite with her husband. Surik was later approached by the couple, who expressed their gratitude and offered her a reward.

Behind the scenes

Aaida made an appearance as a non-player character in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a video game released in 2004 and developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Initiating a conversation with Lootra starts the "Intergalactic Reunification" quest, which is completed by speaking to Lootra again after the reunion. After beginning the quest, Aaida gains new dialogue allowing you to progress the quest. While not essential for progressing the main storyline, completing this quest increases the Exchange's awareness of the Exile, which is necessary to progress. According to The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, Surik's reunion of the couple earns the player light side points.

Conflicting information exists regarding Aaida's story. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia and the now-defunct Databank on StarWars.com stated that the Exchange kidnapped her to coerce Lootra into joining their ranks, a detail contradicted by the game's narrative.

Gameplay Alternatives

Players have the option to bypass the "Intergalactic Reunification" quest entirely, opting instead to increase the Exchange's notice of the Exile through other quests.

The player can persuade Lootra to abandon his search and join the Exchange, leading to increased influence with Kreia and unique dialogue if she is present in the party. Alternatively, the player can choose to kill Lootra, which rewards dark side points.

Once the quest has begun, the player can deceive Aaida by falsely claiming that the guards have been dealt with. This will cause Aaida to attempt an escape from the Refugee Sector, resulting in her death and the acquisition of dark side points for the player.
