Aaloth, located within the Gaulus sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was a Twi'lek planet that served as a colony. The Sith Empire at one point occupied Aaloth during its existence. During the time of the High Republic Era, Aaloth was theoretically part of the Galactic Republic, being included in the Clan Assembly based on Ryloth, and governed by a Keeper. The Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee and her family originated from this homeworld.
The audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner, which was penned by Cavan Scott, marked Aaloth's initial appearance in 2021. Because Tempest Runner was released only in audio format, the spelling of the name was not verified until the short story "The Kindling," which was featured in the Life Day Treasury collection that was also released in 2021.
