The Zygerrian Alliance was an organization comprised of Zygerrian merchants and individuals involved in enslaving others, active during the High Republic Era. While outwardly presenting themselves as solely engaged in "legitimate business," their involvement in slavery was concealed. Zygerrians, who had once presided over a slaving empire, were widely recognized throughout the galaxy for their reputation as enslavers.
Bala Waleen, a male Twi'lek spicerunner from the planet Aaloth, departed his home world to explore the various colonies connected to the Twi'lek homeworld of Ryloth. Upon visiting the Assembly building located in Lessu, Ryloth's capital city, Bala witnessed representatives from the Zygerrian Alliance negotiating agreements with the Twi'lek Clan Assembly. Subsequently, with the support of the Zygerrian Alliance, Bala orchestrated a coup d'état against Aaloth's First family, positioning himself as the planet's Keeper. He then betrayed his girlfriend, Lourna Dee, by selling her into [slavery](/article/slavery], after which Lady Vardem Kroleyic transported her to a Zygerrian camp. Dee was designated as a "grade one" slave, intended for sale to the Hutt Cartel. However, the Jedi Order intervened by launching an attack on the Zygerrian camp, liberating all those held captive.
The audio drama The High Republic: Tempest Runner, penned by Cavan Scott and released in 2021, featured flashbacks that included the Zygerrian Alliance.
