Aarrba was a Hutt mechanic operating on Koros Major both before and during the Great Hyperspace War. As the owner and operator of Aarrba's Repair Dock, this Hutt ran a prosperous business, providing quick and inexpensive spacecraft repairs. He had a solid reputation throughout Cinnagar, and he fiercely guarded it. Following the deaths of two clients, Hok and Timar Daragon, during the Battle of Kirrek, Aarrba assumed responsibility for their children, Gav and Jori Daragon, by gifting them their parents' ship, Starbreaker 12.
The Daragon siblings decided to become hyperspace explorers—a dangerous career path that demanded frequent repairs to the Starbreaker 12. Before long, the Daragons owed Aarrba a significant debt, and after a shipment belonging to the merchant lord Ssk Kahorr was destroyed using one of their discovered "shortcuts," Kahorr's assassins targeted them. They betrayed Aarrba by absconding with the Starbreaker 12, and later, when Jori returned claiming she had discovered the Sith Empire and that Gav was their prisoner, the Hutt refused to believe her. This disbelief proved fatal, as he was subsequently killed by Sith warriors during the Battle of Koros Major.

Koros Major's Cinnagar was home to Aarrba's Repair Dock, owned and operated by Aarrba, a Hutt. He preferred using a hoversled as his personal transportation, and he advertised affordable starship repairs, though their longevity was not guaranteed. Despite this caveat, his service was generally swift and successful. During the Unification Wars, Hok and Timar Daragon, owners of the Shadow Runner, sought Aarrba's services to supply warriors loyal to Empress Teta engaged in the Battle of Kirrek. Aarrba agreed to repair the Shadow Runner quickly in exchange for a percentage of their profits, even though the Daragons lacked the necessary funds. While grateful, the Daragons were instructed by the Hutt to keep his generosity a secret from other patrons.
As security, he requested that they leave their other vessel, the Starbreaker 12, with him on Koros Major, which they did. Later, Aarrba learned of Hok and Timar's deaths at Kirrek and had the somber task of informing their children, Jori and Gav. Reasoning that the elder Daragons had paid for the Shadow Runner's repairs with their lives, the Hutt gifted the Starbreaker 12 to the younger Daragons. They chose to become hyperspace explorers, seeking new shortcuts for space travelers to sell to the highest bidder. This venture was fraught with peril, and the Starbreaker 12 constantly needed repairs. The Daragons' expenses soon exceeded their income, and they, like their parents, began offering Aarrba collateral.
Ultimately, they were compelled to surrender their residence in Cinnagar. Upon returning to Koros Major from another expedition, they implored Aarrba to repair their ship, but the Hutt's business had been struggling due to supply thefts. To combat these thefts, Aarrba installed a new security system, but with dwindling credits, he demanded that the Daragons pay him in cash before releasing their ship. Meanwhile, the Hutt's crew resumed repairing the vessel. Gav highlighted that the Hyperspace Navigator's Guild had validated their latest route, but Aarrba reminded the young Human that the route was perilous and unlikely to be widely used. Nevertheless, Gav returned with news that merchant lord Ssk Kahorr was already utilizing the new trade route, and they would receive a bonus from the guild. Despite this, Aarrba still refused to return the ship until he received payment.
However, Kahorr's shipment was destroyed while using the Daragons' route, prompting him to dispatch assassins to eliminate them in his rage. Forced to flee Koros Major for their safety, the Daragons stole the Starbreaker 12 from Aarrba's shop and departed the system. Aarrba was deeply saddened by the Daragons' actions and felt betrayed for trusting them. He reported the crime to the local authorities but requested that his extension of credit to the Daragons be kept confidential. To the Hutt's surprise, Jori eventually returned in the Starbreaker 12, only to be arrested upon landing. She began recounting tales of a Sith Empire that had captured Gav and was planning to attack the Galactic Republic, but Aarrba dismissed these stories as fabrications, further disappointed in the young Human.

Aarrba's assumption proved incorrect—the Sith Empire did invade, led by Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow, who attacked Koros Major. Sith forces landed, commanded by Gav Daragon himself, now Sadow's apprentice. Gav and his Massassi guards stormed into Aarrba's shop, but before the Human could act, the Hutt spat at him. Interpreting this as an attack, the guards fatally stabbed Aarrba. In his final moments, the Hutt fell from his repulsor-sled, crushing several of his attackers. Aarrba's death shook Gav, leading him to later betray Sadow and lose his own life. The Sith were driven back, and Koros Major was saved, with Jori taking over and managing Aarrba's business in his absence.

Aarrba was understanding and occasionally lenient with his customers—though he preferred to keep it discreet. Contrary to the typical Hutt stereotype, he genuinely cared about others' well-being and maintained a positive reputation due to his skill in his trade. He would sometimes offer credit and reduced prices to those he trusted. He was not heartless enough to retain the Starbreaker 12 after Hok and Timar Daragon's deaths at Kirrek, instead gifting it to their children. However, he would not perform repairs gratis, and when the Daragons lacked funds, he refused to fix their ship. He felt betrayed and cheated when the Daragons stole the Starbreaker 12, particularly resenting Gav's alliance with the invading Sith Empire. Even in his dying moments, Aarrba defied the invaders, using his weight to inflict as much damage as possible.
Aarrba debuted in 1996's Tales of the Jedi – The Golden Age of the Sith 0, written by Kevin J. Anderson and illustrated by Chris Gossett. He later appeared in the subsequent story arc, Tales of the Jedi: The Fall of the Sith Empire, where he was killed off. He received a brief mention in Daniel Wallace's The New Essential Guide to Characters in 2002. In 2008's Star Wars Insider 100, Aarrba was ranked as the 57th greatest thing about Star Wars in the article "The 100 Greatest Things About Star Wars... Ever!." The list was compiled based on the most viewed entries in the Databank.
