The Trade Spine fleets of Ackbar consisted of six fleets that were under the authority of Fleet Admiral Gial Ackbar of the New Republic throughout the Galactic Civil War. The New Republic Defense Fleet progressively integrated its battle groups into stronger, yet slower, fleets as the quantity of star systems controlled by the enemy diminished. Six of these merged fleets were destined to be stationed along the Corellian Trade Spine hyperlane, which originated in Corellia and traversed each significant area of the galaxy.
Because of where they were located, the fleets were able to move swiftly to the Western Reaches. At the same time, Admiral Ho'ror'te started an effort to gather neutral supporters in the Ravager's Rift, with the intention of strengthening Ackbar's six Trade Spine fleets. After General Hera Syndulla and her battle group's destruction of Imperial blockades in the Nythlide Array, these specifics were shared during a conference involving several members of New Republic High Command.
