Akiva production plant

The Akiva production plant, also called the Myrra droid factory, functioned as a manufacturing center for the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Trade Federation during the period of the Clone Wars. Its location was within the catacombs of Akiva, situated beneath the city of Myrra.

Description

Located in the Akivan catacombs below the city of Myrra, the Akiva production plant, also recognized as the Myrra droid factory, served as a droid factory established by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Trade Federation on the planet Akiva, situated in the Outer Rim Territories. The factory was equipped with extensive construction systems designed for producing large quantities of B1-series battle droids and for the assembly of the BX-series droid commando model. Technician Gedeek Obaz also speculated that the facility possessed the capability to manufacture the OOM command battle droid variant of the B1 series, based on his alleged sighting of one such droid amidst the ruins. Upon completion, newly manufactured droids were elevated from the facility using a telescoping platform, enabling their retrieval by arriving starships.

History

Establishment

The Trade Federation and Confederacy of Independent Systems established the Akiva production plant, which then manufactured battle droids for the Confederacy military during the Clone Wars. This conflict spanned the galaxy between the Confederacy and the Galactic Republic from 22 BBY to 19 BBY. The facility also accommodated civilian droid purchases. While the CIS procured droids from the factory, it also directly participated in their construction, generating profits from the operation. According to Akivan Norra Wexley, the factory's establishment occurred later in the Clone Wars; however, the factory was actually operational since at least 22 BBY. Chief supervisor Poreni was in charge of overseeing the factory.

Production and destruction

During the Clone Wars, the Akiva production plant manufactured units like the B1-series battle droid and the BX-series droid commando. As typically occurred with most droid factories over time, the Republic discovered the location of the factory. Following this discovery, the Republic attacked the factory, utilizing Jedi and clone commandos. The factory was then left as a devastated remnant of its former operational state.

After the war

In 3 ABY, thief Kay Vess saw what was left of the abandoned Separatist factory.

Following the war, scavengers explored the factory ruins to construct droids for their own uses. The Alliance to Restore the Republic used the factory as a base. The rebels at the factory encountered criminal Kay Vess, the Rodian Gedeek Obaz, and the BX commando droid ND-5 when they entered the factory to repair ND-5, who was malfunctioning. Vess assisted the rebels in freeing their comrades from the Hutt Clan, who intended to sell them as prisoners to the Galactic Empire, in exchange for aid to ND-5. The Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Revelator nearly destroyed the factory when the Empire discovered the location of the rebel base. An attack by the Rebel Alliance, Kay Vess' crew, and a crime syndicate that had a good relationship with Vess destroyed the Revelator before it could destroy the base.
