Akiva production plant

The Akiva production plant, also referred to as the Myrra droid factory, functioned as a manufacturing center for the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Trade Federation during the period of the Clone Wars. This facility was situated within the catacombs of Akiva, located beneath the city of Myrra.

Description

Located in the Akivan catacombs under the city of Myrra, the Akiva production plant, also recognized as the Myrra droid factory, was a droid factory established by the Confederacy of Independent Systems and Trade Federation on the planet Akiva within the Outer Rim Territories. This facility was equipped with extensive systems designed for the mass production of B1-series battle droids and the construction of the BX-series droid commando model. Technician Gedeek Obaz also speculated that the factory possessed the capability to produce the OOM command battle droid variant of the B1, based on his alleged sighting of one such droid amidst the factory's ruins. Upon completion, the newly manufactured droids were elevated from the facility via a telescoping platform, facilitating their retrieval by arriving starships.

History

Establishment

Following its establishment by the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Akiva production plant manufactured battle droids for the Confederacy military throughout the Clone Wars. This conflict spanned the galaxy pitting the Confederacy against the Galactic Republic from 22 BBY to 19 BBY. The factory also accommodated civilian purchases of droids. While the CIS procured droids from the factory, it also actively participated in the droid construction process, generating its own profits from the operation. According to the Akivan Norra Wexley, the factory was established in the later years of the Clone Wars, but the factory in fact had been active since 22 BBY at least. chief supervisor Poreni was responsible for overseeing the factory's operations.

Production and destruction

During the Clone Wars, the Akiva production plant manufactured various units, including the B1-series battle droid and the BX-series droid commando. As was the case with most droid factories eventually, the Republic discovered the location of this facility. Upon discovery, the Republic launched an attack involving Jedi and clone commandos, leaving the factory a devastated remnant of its former state.

After the war

In 3 ABY, thief Kay Vess saw what was left of the abandoned Separatist factory.

In the aftermath of the war, resourceful scavengers explored the factory in search of materials to construct their own droids. The Alliance to Restore the Republic subsequently utilized the factory as a base of operations. While stationed at the factory, the rebels encountered criminal Kay Vess, the Rodian Gedeek Obaz, and the BX commando droid ND-5 when they arrived at the factory to repair the malfunctioning ND-5. In return for assistance with ND-5's repairs, Vess aided the rebels in rescuing their comrades from the Hutt Clan, who intended to sell them as prisoners to the Galactic Empire. When the Empire discovered the location of the rebel base, the factory was almost completely destroyed by the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Revelator. However, before it could destroy the base, the Revelator was destroyed in an attack carried out by the Rebel Alliance, Kay Vess' crew, and a crime syndicate with which Vess had established a positive reputation.
