Albrekh

Albrekh was a metalsmith and Sith alchemist of the Symeong male species. He was in the service of Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren during the war that pitted the First Order against the Resistance. His duties included maintaining and repairing the armor of the Knights, and he performed these duties aboard their transport, known as the Night Buzzard.

Notably, this encompassed the armor of Kylo Ren himself. In 35 ABY, Albrekh utilized a Sith forge to mend the Supreme Leader's helmet, reconnecting its shattered fragments with Sarrassian iron.

Biography

Albrekh repairing Kylo Ren's helmet aboard the Night Buzzard

During the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, this Symeong male metalsmith and Sith alchemist named Albrekh was in the service of Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren. He was stationed on the Knights' personal Oubliette-class transport, the Night Buzzard, where he was responsible for the upkeep of their armor. In 35 ABY, Ren provided Albrekh with the numerous pieces of his helmet, many of which were severely damaged after being recovered from the wreckage of the Mega-class Star Dreadnought Supremacy following the Battle of Crait.

Albrekh assured Ren that the mask would be even stronger after the repairs. He then arranged the pieces on his stone table, carefully placing them in their correct positions. As Ren and his knights observed, Albrekh used a specialized mallet to reshape the fragments, secured them with magnetic forceps, and then fused them together using molten Sarrassian iron. Once the helmet was fully reconstructed, he repeatedly doused it with water to cool it down. Upon completion, he presented the restored helmet to Kylo Ren, who wordlessly accepted it and put it on before attending a meeting of his First Order Supreme Council aboard the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Steadfast. Shortly after the helmet's repair, Ren and all of his knights perished on the planet Exegol.

Personality and traits

Albrekh, an unusual Symeong, possessed a mastery of traditional metallurgy, enabling him to accomplish feats of smithing that were considered exceptional by the time he repaired Ren's mask. Before beginning his work, he would rub his hands together eagerly, and he demonstrated remarkable perception and speed in solving the puzzle of reassembling the shattered pieces. When soldering the pieces, Albrekh applied the iron with meticulous care and demonstrated unwavering patience, focus, and precision.

Albrekh possessed nimble, steady hands and distinctive long, pointed ears that were widely spaced and twitched in response to every sound or air movement. These ears were so sensitive that he could determine the temperature of metal by the sound it produced when struck. The alchemist was small and slender, with a prominent jaw, light skin, and brown hair.

Equipment

During the repair of Kylo Ren's helmet, Albrekh utilized a Sith forge along with four adjustable arm mechanisms that featured magnetic forceps and reverse-repulsorlift grav-focused bases to hold the pieces in their proper positions. The metalsmith also employed a hammer, a device for applying molten sarrassian iron, and a compressed air cooling nozzle during the process. The Symeong wore a dark brown robe with a tool kit attached to the chest, a brown belt and boots, as well as a pair of magnification electro-goggles. He also wore gloves that Ren believed were made from a secret Sith fabric that protected the Symeong's hands from burning, though he removed them upon completing his work.

Behind the scenes

Wizard 52

Albrekh made his debut appearance in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, part of the sequel trilogy, where he was played by Lynn Robertson Bruce. The character's identity was first revealed in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, a reference book accompanying the film, authored by Pablo Hidalgo. In the 2020 novelization of the film, penned by Rae Carson, Albrekh speaks while handing the helmet to Ren. However, as Albrekh remains silent in the film, this article assumes the film's portrayal to be accurate. Glyn Dillon, the chief costume concept artist, created concept art of Albrekh for the film titled "Blacksmith Monkey Version 4A," and Louis Wiltshire, a creature concept designer and senior sculptor, created a piece titled "Wizard 52."
