The Amorris system, a star system, existed within the Quelii sector of the New Territories, which themselves were part of the Outer Rim. This system consisted of the planet named Amorris and the astronomical object known as Morr Three. During the Galactic Empire's rule, this planet fell under Imperial control and was also occupied by the notorious Cavrilhu Pirates.
Within the Outer Rim Territories, specifically in the region called the New Territories, the Amorris system was situated inside the Quelii sector. The planet Amorris and the celestial object Morr Three were both components of this system.

Around the time of 0 BBY, the Cavrilhu Pirates maintained numerous bases on both Amorris and Morr Three. These bases served as launchpads for numerous raids carried out within the system. By 9 ABY, the system was located within the territory controlled by the confederation of Imperial forces under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
In that year, Lando Calrissian, a smuggler, and Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Knight, apprehended Niles Ferrier, a starship thief, as he attempted to pilfer a New Republic vessel from the shipyards on the planet Sluis Van. During the subsequent confrontation, Calrissian proposed that Ferrier shift his focus from stealing from the New Republic Defense Fleet and instead target the pirates operating in the Amorris system. Following the theft of three IPV-1 System Patrol Crafts from the New Republic by the Cavrilhu pirates, Ferrier journeyed to Morr Three, the location where the patrol ships were being held, and successfully stole them.
The novel Dark Force Rising, published in 1992 and written by Timothy Zahn as the second book in Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy, first mentioned the Amorris system. The system made its first appearance in the 1998 video game Star Wars: Rebellion, which was developed by Coolhand Interactive. The book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, placed the Amorris system within grid square O-6. Jason Fry, who co-authored that book, verified during the development of the Online Companion for The Essential Atlas on StarWars.com that Morr Three was indeed situated within the system.
