Anza was a star of a red and fiery hue, found within the Abregado system situated in the Core Worlds region of the galaxy. The planet Abregado-rae orbited this star, and both were located in sector K-13 of the Standard Galactic Grid. The faint light of Anza was sufficient to nurture life on Abregado-rae.
The Battle of Abregado took place near Anza in 22 BBY during the Clone Wars. In this battle, the Separatist Subjugator-class heavy cruiser Malevolence decimated an entire Republic fleet by itself. The battle's aftermath resulted in the creation of a debris field of starship remnants that now orbits Anza.
Within the current Star Wars canon, the Abregado system's star was conceived for "Rising Malevolence," the second installment of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season, which initially broadcast on October 3, 2008. Nevertheless, its initial appearance was in the introductory newsreel of "Ambush," the season's premiere episode that also aired on the same day.
Originally, the star Anza was presented in Coruscant and the Core Worlds, a Star Wars Legends sourcebook from 2003 for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. The 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia integrated the name into canon.
