SD-K4 assassin droid

Characteristics

The SD-K4 assassin droid, a class four droid crafted by Baktoid Combat Automata, a division of the Techno Union, was engineered for the express purpose of assassinating targets with peak effectiveness. These spider-like droids, programmed for covert killing, possessed the ability to move silently on their eight bladed legs, enabling them to stalk their prey undetected before striking. They were outfitted with a multitude of red photoreceptors, which were used to scan the area around them. In situations where an SD-K4 was either cornered or destroyed, it had the capability to deploy thirty miniature SD-K4a mini-assassin droids from pores located on its head, in order to complete the mission that the assassin probe had initiated.

History

During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems made use of the SD-K4 assassin droids. As key figures within the Galactic Republic started to disappear, suspicion arose regarding the utilization of assassin probes. In the year 21 BBY, Tal Merrik, the senator representing Kalevala and a clandestine supporter of Death Watch, smuggled three SD-K4 units onto the spaceliner known as the Coronet, with the intention of assassinating Satine Kryze, the duchess of Mandalore. After one of these droids was responsible for the deaths of clone troopers "Mixer" and "Redeye," their comrades discovered their presence, leading to a confrontation within the cargo bay. Ultimately, the group and their assassin droids were destroyed before they could eliminate their intended target, but not before inflicting further casualties among the clones and disrupting the senators' dinner.

Following the Clone Wars, the Galactic Empire absorbed the Techno Union and subsequently utilized their assassin probes during the Galactic Civil War. Furthermore, the Rebel Alliance modified some of these droids for combat purposes and supplied them to Saponza's Gang.
