Atale, a red moon, orbited the planet Empress Teta within the Empress Teta system. This celestial body, along with its entire star system, was situated in the Koros sector, which itself was part of the Deep Core and [the Interior](/article/the_interior] regions. Its location was specifically identified as grid square L-10 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The Byss Run, the Carbonite Run, and the Koros Trunk Line hyperspace routes all passed through the Empress Teta system, and therefore, near Atale. The Mining Guild utilized Atale as the primary production center for andris spice.
The Star Wars canon saw the introduction of Atale in 2016 via the Nexus of Power sourcebook for Star Wars: Force and Destiny, a product of Fantasy Flight Games. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the red moon associated with Empress Teta made an appearance in the fifth issue of the Dark Lords of the Sith story arc, featured in Dark Horse Comics' Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comic-book series. This issue, with writing credits to Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson and pencils by Chris Gossett, was released on February 14, 1995.
