The Byss Run represented a hyperspace route that traversed the Interior and [Deep Core](/article/deep_core] sectors of the galaxy. Its path started at the planet Empress Teta, serving as a connector to the Koros Trunk Line, before linking to the planet Prakith, the astronomical body Keera Major, and ultimately the planet Byss. It formed a segment of the broader Nexus Route.
This hyperspace route, known as the Byss Run, was situated in the Interior and [Deep Core](/article/deep_core] regions of the galaxy. Beginning at the planet Empress Teta within the Empress Teta system of the Koros sector, it proceeded through the volcanic planet Prakith and the astronomical landmark Keera Major, culminating at the world of Byss. Empress Teta also functioned as a terminal point for the Koros Trunk Line, a route extending to the Core Worlds planet Coruscant, and was also a component of the Carbonite Run. Both the Byss Run and the Koros Trunk Line were sections of the larger Nexus Route, which provided a connection from Byss to the Abregado system within the Core Worlds.
Early inhabitants along the Byss Run left behind colorful frescoes. These frescoes served as the inspiration for the designs featured on the cards used in the game Bakuratwere. During the Clone Wars, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Republic, secretly the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, divulged the coordinates of the clandestine Nexus Route to Confederacy of Independent Systems General Grievous. Subsequently, the general navigated the Separatist Fleet from the Outer Rim Territories along this route to reach Coruscant, launching a surprise attack on the Republic's capital in 19 BBY.
In 34 ABY, the Chandrila Star Line's Star Cruiser Halcyon presented a partial galactic map, displaying the Byss Run on multiple screens during a cruise from the Core Worlds' Chandrila system to the Outer Rim Territories.
Within current Star Wars canon, the Byss Run received its initial mention in issue thirty-sixth of the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine, released around September 9, 2015. Its first in-universe depiction was as a map in Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, an immersive role-playing adventure at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, which opened to the public on March 1, 2022.
The Byss Run originated within the Star Wars Legends continuity. Its initial mention occurred in the first issue of the Star Wars: Dark Empire II comic book series, authored by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Cam Kennedy, and published by Dark Horse Comics on December 20, 1994. Subsequently, the route was depicted in the third issue of the series, released on February 21, 1995.
