Atrisian Emperor

The Atrisian Emperor, alternatively known as the Emperor of Kitel Phard, designated the rulers who held dominion over the Core Worlds planet of Kitel Phard in times far preceding the armed conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, a war that commenced in 34 ABY. They shared a designation with the celestial body Atrisia, as well as the Atrisian Basic language. The name of the Praetorian Guard, a bodyguard group of enigmatic origins originally tied to the Imperial Remnants and active by 9 ABY, can be traced back to the reign of the 14th Atrisian Emperor.

Behind the scenes

The Atrisian Emperors were introduced in the current Star Wars canon in Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary.

The phrase "Atrisian Emperor" made its initial appearance within current Star Wars canon inside Pablo Hidalgo's 2017 reference work, Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Visual Dictionary. The 2019 reference book Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition later presented "Emperor of Kitel Phard" as an alternate title.

The designation "Emperor of Atrisia" was initially established within the Star Wars Legends continuity through a mention in Greg Gorden's 1989 Imperial Sourcebook, released by West End Games for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. In August 1997, the article "From the Files of Corellia Antilles," written by Timothy O'Brien and featured in the fourteenth issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine, formally identified the title as the Atrisian Emperor. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas presented the first illustration of an Atrisian Emperor—Uueg Tching—illustrated by Chris Trevas.
