Atrisia was a world characterized by brush covering its landscape. The mythology of the Atrisians included the demigod known as Wapoe. During the time of the Galactic Empire's reign, Atrisia hosted the Royal Academy of Arts, where the aristocrat Resinu Santhe-Caltra was once a student. The human Calum Gram was employed as a search and rescue pilot by the Wilderness Preserve service located on Atrisia.
Atrisia was a planet-like astronomical entity. Its surface was covered in thick brush, and it shared its designation with the Atrisian Basic language as well as the Atrisian Emperors, the rulers of the Core Worlds planet Kitel Phard.

The Royal Academy of Arts was located on Atrisia during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Resinu Santhe-Caltra, a member of the aristocracy, was a student there at that time, a detail eventually documented in A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy. Rumor had it that the ancestors of the pro-Empire human Vonreg family originated from Atrisia.
Prior to joining the Rebel Alliance and participating in the Battle of Scarif in 1 BBY, the human Calum Gram served as a search and rescue pilot for the Wilderness Preserve service on Atrisia. While on Atrisia, Gram honed his precision flying skills by piloting an airspeeder through the dense plant life.

Atrisia was first mentioned indirectly within current Star Wars canon in the September 27, 2016 re-release of the 2005 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations. The mention appeared in a republished section from James Luceno's 2004 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, which introduced Atrisia through a reference to the Atrisian demigod Wapoe. The planet was first properly identified in Star Wars Propaganda: A History of Persuasive Art in the Galaxy, a book written by Pablo Hidalgo and published on October 25, 2016.
Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Atrisia was initially introduced in the Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 supplement penned by Greg Gorden for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry clarified that "Kitel Phard," a planet first referenced by Timothy O'Brien in the article "From the Files of Corellia Antilles" as part of the August 1997 fourteenth issue of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal magazine, was another name for Atrisia. Kitel Phard has since reappeared in the current canon, but no connection between it and Atrisia has been confirmed.
