The invasion of Tanalorr, alternatively referred to as the attack on Tanalorr, involved a sudden assault by the Nihil marauders against the planet of Tanalorr within the timeline of the High Republic Era. This assault occurred while an evaluation was underway to determine if Tanalorr could accommodate a significant Jedi presence. Although the Jedi mounted a valiant resistance—spearheaded by the famous Jedi Knight Dagan Gera and Jedi Council member Oppo Rancisis—the Nihil triumphed over the Jedi's defensive efforts.
The Nihil emerged victorious in this conflict against the Jedi. The sheer intensity of the marauders' assault, paired with the inherent challenges of accessing the planet, prompted the Jedi Council to make the decision to completely forsake Tanalorr. This decision ignited profound resentment within Gera, directly precipitating his subsequent act of betrayal against the Jedi Order. The method by which the Nihil located Tanalorr, however, remained an enigma for the Jedi. Suspecting that the Nihil had acquired one of the Abyss compasses—the sole instruments capable of traversing the perilous Koboh Abyss to arrive at Tanalorr—the Jedi Council mandated the destruction of all compasses after Tanalorr was abandoned.
The attack on Tanalorr was conceived for the 2023 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor video game, in which it is depicted through flashback sequences.
