Aurora (Valor-class)
The Aurora, a significantly altered Valor-class cruiser, served within the Republic Navy throughout both the Great Galactic War and the subsequent Cold War.
History
Initially, the Aurora was tasked with patrolling the Rimma Trade Route. During one battle, it decisively defeated and eliminated twenty-eight corvettes and frigates belonging to the Hook Talon pirates.
As the Great Galactic War concluded, the vessel was placed under the joint command of Jedi Master Kellian Jarro and Captain [Ofaree]. It then functioned as a training facility for elite Special forces units, who practiced various boarding action drills.
This role ended during the Cold War when bounty hunter Tarro Blood was apprehended on board. He confessed to an Imperial plot to assassinate the Jedi Master. Shortly thereafter, the D5-Mantis Patrol Craft belonging to the Grand Champion of the Great Hunt arrived with orders to eliminate both the Jedi Master and Tarro Blood. After dispatching Blood and Jarro, the hunter programmed the ship's hyperdrive to activate on a timer. Because the Aurora's hyperdrive regulator had been sabotaged beforehand, the ship was torn apart upon entering hyperspace.
Behind the scenes
Within the Codex of the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Aurora is described as a heavily modified Valor-class cruiser. However, its in-game representation is that of a Thranta-class corvette. According to Charles Boyd, it is highly probable that the intention was for the ship to be a Valor-class, and the incorrect model was utilized.
