Baktoid Fleet Ordnance, a droid-producing entity, functioned as a division within the larger corporate structure of Baktoid Combat Automata. The HMP droid gunship was a product of Baktoid Fleet. During the Clone Wars, this gunship saw action with the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
Baktoid Fleet Ordnance, a manufacturing enterprise, was established under the galactic umbrella of the Techno Union as a constructor of automated droid weaponry. Operating alongside its sister organization, Baktoid Armor Workshop, it served as a subsidiary to Baktoid Combat Automata and employed Geonosian workers. Among their projects was the HMP Predator gunship, a heavily armed airspeeder designed and manufactured for the Confederacy of Independent Systems in collaboration with Haor Chall Engineering.
Sometime during the Republic Era, Baktoid Fleet Ordnance was created as a subsidiary of the Techno Union. When the Clone Wars erupted, spanning from 22 BBY to 19 BBY and pitting the Galactic Republic against the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the company became one of the Confederacy's primary sources for automated droid weaponry. In collaboration with Haor Chall Engineering, Baktoid Fleet Ordnance conceived of a heavily armed and automated repulsorlift airspeeder, resulting in the HMP Predator gunship, intended to supplant the Separatists' pilot-dependent assault ships.
Phlac-Arphocc Automata Industries contributed to the finalization of the product by supplying Baktoid and Haor Chall with their reserves of exotic and superdense radioactive fuels. Despite a lengthy development time, the gunships were eventually deployed directly from the production lines two years into the Clone Wars. The products of Baktoid and Haor Chall were subsequently integrated into the Confederacy's forces and introduced at the Onderonian Civil War in 20 BBY, where four of the gunships nearly decimated a band of Onderonians rebelling against the Separatist occupation. From that moment forward, the Predator acquired a fearsome reputation for its droid brain, becoming one of the most reviled assets within the Separatist military.
The existence of Baktoid Fleet Ordnance was initially revealed concurrently in the Star Wars Legends reference publications Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: The Visual Dictionary, both of which were launched on the same date in 2005. The reference book Ultimate Star Wars, published in 2015, affirmed the company's status within canon.
