During the Clone Wars, the Banshee, a Lancer-class pursuit craft, functioned as the personal starship for the bounty hunter known as Asajj Ventress. This vessel contained two cabins, a compact galley, and a cargo bay that was used for holding bounties and prisoner.
In the final year of the Clone Wars, Asajj Ventress obtained the Banshee, utilizing it both as a transport and living space while she pursued bounties. Its designation was the same as a Ginivex-class fanblade starfighter|Ginivex-class fanblade starfighter that Ventress had previously commanded.
By the time of the [Imperial Era](/article/imperial_era], she had transitioned to using a different ship when visiting Clone Force 99 on Pabu.

The public first saw the Banshee at Celebration Anaheim during the "The Untold Clone Wars Panel." Originally intended for unfinished episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, these episodes were instead adapted into a novel called Dark Disciple, authored by Christie Golden, after the show's cancellation. Despite the ship's absence from canon depictions, concept artwork of the Banshee, inspired by Doug Chiang's designs for the Republic Gunship, was presented during the panel. The ultimate model was reworked to become the Shadow Caster, which appeared in the Star Wars Rebels episode "Blood Sisters." The production asset for the Banshee was made available in the trivia section of Starwars.com for that episode.
