During the Clone Wars conflict, Asajj Ventress, a bounty hunter, managed to seize Moregi on Pantora. Moregi was a Volpai who had a bounty placed on his head by the Rang Clan. Ventress was aided in this endeavor by Quinlan Vos, a Jedi Master operating undercover. The Jedi Council had dispatched Vos on a secret assignment: to eliminate Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, hoping this would quickly end the Clone Wars. Vos, in need of a partner for this dangerous task, chose Ventress, a Nightsister who had previously served as Dooku's apprentice.
Vos, having received information from Boba Fett that Ventress was present on Pantora, journeyed there and disrupted her attempt to capture Moregi. Moregi was able to initially evade capture due to Vos's interference. After a rocky beginning, Vos, pretending to be a bounty hunter himself, joined forces with Asajj to secure Moregi. Utilizing Vos's pscyhometric abilities, the pair successfully located the Volpai fugitive at his residence. Following a struggle and a chase, the two bounty hunters successfully apprehended Moregi. As a direct consequence of this collaborative hunt, Vos successfully gained Ventress's confidence, leading to the establishment of a partnership between them.
During the era of the Clone Wars, Moregi, a Volpai, angered the Rang Clan by misappropriating their funds. Consequently, the Clan offered a bounty of 25,000 credits for his capture. Moregi sought refuge on Pantora, the temperate moon of Orto Plutonia, alongside his Rodian wife and her son. Asajj Ventress, formerly an apprentice to the Sith Lord Dooku and a Nightsister who transitioned into a bounty hunter, aimed to claim the bounty placed on Moregi.
Simultaneously, on Coruscant, the Jedi High Council tasked Quinlan Vos, a Master, with a mission to assassinate Count Dooku. The Separatist leader had authorized the massacre of civilians on Mahranee, and the Jedi Council sought to swiftly conclude the Clone Wars to avert further civilian casualties. Vos was selected for this assignment due to his expertise in undercover operations. Upon the suggestion of Master Yoda, the Council proposed Ventress as a potential ally for Vos. Despite initial reservations, Vos decided to seek her assistance. Venturing to Level 1313 on Coruscant, Vos encountered Boba Fett, a bounty hunter, at a bar. Fett informed Vos that Ventress was pursuing Moregi on Pantora.
While observing a public park on Pantora, Asajj Ventress noticed Moregi feeding several scurriers outside a building. As Ventress approached her target on foot, Moregi spotted her and attempted to escape. Utilizing his unique four-arm anatomy, Moregi jumped across rooftops and swung from overhangs, deliberately knocking over pedestrians in an attempt to slow down his pursuer. Ventress, employing her Force powers, chased the Volpai and managed to forcefully bring him down. Before she could subdue Moregi, her hunt was disrupted by the arrival of a dark-haired humanoid, later identified as Vos.
Ventress, perceiving Vos as an intruder attempting to steal her reward, struck him in the jaw. Capitalizing on the confusion, Moregi seized the opportunity to flee the scene. While verbally confronting Vos for interfering with her bounty, Ventress detected subtle movement and observed Moregi leaping onto another rooftop. The Volpai then led the two bounty hunters on a chase to a high-fashion merchant area, swinging across various shop signs. Ventress successfully grabbed Moregi's shirt as he attempted to swing from a sign belonging to a shop named "The Paisley Pikobi."
During the struggle, Moregi and Ventress fell to the streets below. The Volpai managed to land on the hood of a passing speeder. Ventress landed unharmed but was frustrated by the loss of her bounty for the fourth time. While proceeding into the town's square, Ventress sensed that she was being followed by Vos. Ventress reprimanded Vos for interfering with her hunt and rejected his proposals for partnership. After observing Moregi escaping in another vehicle, she commandeered a Zardossa airspeeder from an angry Rodian driver and resumed the chase.
Using the stolen speeder, Ventress jumped onto the hood of Moregi's second speeder and engaged in a physical struggle with him. Despite her best efforts, Moregi managed to throw her off the vehicle. Ventress fell to the ground but was rescued by Vos, who had commandeered another speeder. Although Ventress remained furious with Vos for disrupting her hunt, she agreed to allow him to treat her to a meal, as she was exhausted and bruised from her unsuccessful pursuit.
Despite an inauspicious beginning, Vos successfully won over Ventress after utilizing his psychometric abilities to examine a metal plating that belonged to Moregi. Using his Force abilities, Vos deduced that Moregi had not left Pantora. He also discovered that Moregi had a Rodian wife and child, and that they resided in an apartment within the city. Without revealing his Jedi identity, Vos offered to share this information with Ventress if she agreed to partner with him. After providing a tip to the bartender, the two hunters proceeded to Moregi's apartment, located on the fourth floor of an apartment complex.
After forcefully breaking down the door, Ventress kicked Moregi in the midsection. Vos entered the room shortly afterward and noticed Moregi's wife and child. Despite Moregi's claims of innocence, Ventress and Vos refused to release him. Moregi attempted to bribe them, but Ventress responded that they were being adequately compensated to return the embezzled funds to the Rang Clan. Unable to reason with the hunters, Moregi attacked them with his four arms, managing to knock Ventress and Vos to the ground.
After Moregi's Rodian wife pleaded with him to flee, the Volpai jumped out of a window and commandeered a red speeder sled. Utilizing their Force abilities, Vos and Ventress followed him through the window. While Ventress pursued the fugitive on foot, Vos commandeered an unoccupied speeder bike and offered Ventress a ride. Catching up with Moregi, Ventress jumped off the bike and wrestled the Volpai to the ground. Armed with her lightsaber, Ventress tried to force Moregi to surrender. When he attempted to escape, Vos knocked him to the ground. Trapped, Moregi had no option but to surrender to the hunters. Despite Moregi's offer to bribe them with triple the bounty, the two hunters ignored him and took him into custody.
Following the successful hunt, Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress initiated a bounty hunting alliance. Together, they successfully claimed numerous bounties before accepting a commission from Marg Krim, a crime boss from the Pyke Syndicate, to rescue his family, who had been abducted by the Black Sun, a rival crime syndicate. Collaboratively, Vos and Ventress successfully rescued Krim's wife and children from the Black Sun fortress on Mustafar. Despite their success in rescuing the hostages, the two bounty hunters were unable to provide any assistance when the Black Sun launched a retaliatory assault on the Pike Syndicate's base on Oba Diah.
Burdened by the guilt of failing to protect Krim's children, Vos confessed that he was a Jedi and revealed his mission to assassinate Count Dooku. Ventress sympathized with Vos's mission but insisted that he would be unable to defeat Dooku without harnessing the power of the dark side. Vos reluctantly commenced a rigorous training regimen on Dathomir, based on the Nightsisters' traditions. After completing his trials, Vos and Ventress attempted to assassinate Dooku on Raxus Secundus.
However, their mission failed due to their inability to overcome Dooku's dark side abilities. Vos was captured by Dooku and turned to the dark side. In an attempt to locate Dooku's elusive master Darth Sidious and to destroy the Sith, Vos became Dooku's new Sith apprentice. This led him to play a double agent role that ultimately culminated in the Second battle of Christophsis. Despite Vos's efforts, he failed to assassinate Dooku or to discover the identity of Darth Sidious, setting in motion a series of events that led to the Great Jedi Purge and the rise of the Galactic Empire.
