During a discussion in 9 BBY inside the Pyloon's Saloon cantina on the planet Koboh, Tulakt reminisced about the taste of banzon with Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, describing how it invigorated her taste buds when she missed home. Kestis then proposed that she should request Greez Dritus, the chef, to prepare a dish reminiscent of her home.
Within established Star Wars canon, the spice banzon was brought up during an optional dialogue sequence featured in the 2023 video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, developed by Respawn Entertainment. The concept of Banzon initially appeared in the Star Wars Legends timeline, specifically in the second issue of the Star Wars: River of Chaos comic-book, authored by Louise Simonson and published by Dark Horse Comics on July 1, 1995.
