Barlok, a planet situated within the Inner Rim Territories, was a terrestrial world renowned for its sophisticated horticultural practices. The most highly regarded product of this world was the prisht-fruit, a native species. In addition to prisht-fruit, one could also acquire other edible plants such as taba leaf and shi-shok. Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, seeking respite from hot planets like Li-Toran and Jakku, paid a visit to Barlok during a culinary expedition throughout the galaxy between 34 ABY and 35 ABY. Tuggs seized the opportunity to replenish his supplies of fruit and vegetables, notably procuring two bushels of prisht-fruit, an acquisition he deemed essential. Barlok was later referenced by him within the prisht parfait recipe contained in The Ultimate Cookbook, his third cookbook published in 35 ABY.
Within current Star Wars canon, Barlok's mention occurs in the 2023 publication Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a compilation of recipes authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The world of Barlok first appeared in the Star Wars Legends continuity, specifically within Timothy Zahn's 2006 novel, Outbound Flight.
