The Sarrish invasion, alternatively called the Battle of Sarrish, represented a harsh conflict that unfolded on the planet Sarrish, situated within the Outer Rim Territories, during the second year of the Clone Wars. This engagement stands as one of the most devastating defeats suffered by the Galactic Republic; a great number of clone troopers were lost in the battle as the Republic forces were routed.
Clone Captain Gregor initially led Foxtrot Group into combat and subsequently commanded their retreat. Gregor successfully guided the remaining Republic troops back to space, but his own transport was destroyed. Gregor, the sole survivor of the crash, managed to reach the isolated world of Abafar, where he made an emergency landing. He was listed as missing in action, but a Republic team eventually located him.
The Battle of Sarrish received its initial canon mention in "Missing in Action," the twelfth episode of the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This episode was initially broadcast on Cartoon Network on January 5, 2013. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Battle of Sarrish made its debut appearance in Routine Valor, a single-issue comic book created by writer Randy Stradley and artist Doug Wheatley. Dark Horse Comics published this comic on May 6, 2006 for Free Comic Book Day.
