The Journals of Ben Kenobi
The Journals of Ben Kenobi comprised a collection of writings penned by the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. These journals were created during his period of exile on the desert world of Tatooine. When Luke Skywalker paid a visit to Kenobi's home in 0 BBY, the journal was stored within a secure, keypad-locked box on the dwelling's lower level. Following Kenobi's mortal death, Luke visited Kenobi's Tatooine residence and came across the journal, which was housed in a container labeled "For Luke."
The writings contained accounts of Obi-Wan Kenobi's endeavors to safeguard Luke, and to assist the local inhabitants. Furthermore, Kenobi documented his strong desire to deepen his understanding of the Force, his attempts to communicate with Qui-Gon Jinn, and his reflections on his choices as a Jedi. Additionally, they provided instructions on constructing a lightsaber. These entries were created using a calligraphy set, which was eventually inherited by Ben Solo.
Behind the scenes
The Journals of Ben Kenobi made their initial appearance in Marvel's comic book Star Wars (2015) 6. Jason Aaron, the comic's writer, stated that tales from Kenobi's journal would be presented as self-contained comics positioned between the story arcs of the Star Wars comic series. The first narrative derived from the journal was featured in Star Wars (2015) 7.
Despite the comic's transcribed title using the plural "journals," the Aurebesh script displayed on the cover actually indicates the singular "journal."
