Berrun, a world of terrestrial nature, existed within the Berrun system. This system was situated within the Slice region of the Colonies. During the Cold War era, a period of tension between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, the Republic operated a detention facility on Berrun. The Surgeons, a squad of the Republic Special Forces, were incarcerated in this prison for life after being found guilty of war crimes related to targeting the families of their Imperial adversaries.
The planet Berrun served as the host of the Galactic Games in 34 BBY. This sporting competition occurred every seven years and rotated to a different location across the galactic landscape. Maxo Vista, an athlete of the Euceron species, achieved widespread galactic renown by winning five events at the Games held on Berrun.
The world of Berrun was initially introduced in Jedi Quest: The Dangerous Games, a young adult novel by Jude Watson. It was released in 2002 as the third book in the Star Wars: Jedi Quest series. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, identified the location of the Berrun system, and consequently Berrun, as grid square M-10.
