Blue Squadron (Resistance)

Blue Squadron, a squadron of starfighters within the Resistance, played a crucial role in the era following the Battle of Endor, spanning several decades. It functioned as the main defensive force for the Resistance base situated on D'Qar.

Description

This Resistance starfighter squadron, known as Blue Squadron, was equipped with both T-70 X-wing starfighters and RZ-2 A-wing interceptors. As an integral part of the Resistance Starfighter Corps, its initial headquarters were located at the Resistance base on D'Qar. However, training missions were conducted from the Ninka, and following the evacuation of the D'Qar base, the squadron relocated to the Raddus.

The commanding officer of Blue Squadron was Commander Poe Dameron, known as Black Leader. Among the Squadron Leaders were Captain Temmin Wexley and Lieutenant Tallissan Lintra.

History

Aboard the Ninka

Prior to the evacuation of D'Qar, Blue Leader Tallissan Lintra, an A-wing pilot, led a group of four Blue Squadron X-wings on a training exercise originating from the Free Virgillia-class Bunkerbuster Ninka. This group included Flight Officer Stomeroni Starck, designated as Blue Two, and another pilot known as "Blue Three." Lintra made the decision to end the training exercise due to sensor interference caused by an ionized gas cloud. However, she then pursued a distress signal into the cloud, ultimately rescuing Staaysha Dekkr, a pilot from Duro Interstellar Freight and Shipping.

Takodana

Shortly after the Hosnian Cataclysm, the First Order launched an assault on Maz Kanata's castle located on Takodana, with the intention of capturing Rey. Commander Poe Dameron spearheaded Blue Squadron in a hard-fought dogfight against First Order TIE fighters, while also conducting strafing runs against stormtroopers on the ground.

Starkiller Base

Blue Squadron, fighting alongside Red Squadron, participated in the Battle of Starkiller Base under the leadership of Black Leader Poe Dameron. Their objective was to destroy Starkiller Base to prevent further destruction in the galaxy.

Piloting X-wings, the squadron's members included Blue Leader Captain Temmin Wexley with R6-D8, Yolo Ziff and M9-G8 as Blue Two, Jessika Pava and R0-4L0 as Blue Three, Pallaris Ven and BR-BA as Blue Four, and an unidentified pilot as Blue Nine.

Despite significant Resistance casualties, including Ven and BR-BA, the mission was ultimately a success.

Evacuation of D'Qar

A Blue Squadron RZ-2 A-wing

Following the Battle of Starkiller Base, the Resistance was compelled to evacuate their base on D'Qar after its location was discovered by the First Order. Blue Squadron, along with Red Squadron, was deployed to delay the First Order advance and allow time for the evacuation. The combined squadrons were responsible for protecting the bombers of Cobalt and Crimson Squadrons. With Temmin Wexley, the former Blue Leader, engaged in a mission, Lieutenant Tallisan Lintra took command of Blue Squadron, piloting her A-wing, in the attack against the First Order's Dreadnought, with Stomeroni Starck as her wingman.

Attack on Resistance Fleet

When the Resistance fleet was caught in an ambush by the fleet of First Order Supreme Leader Snoke, the pilots of Blue Squadron tried to launch their fighters, but Kylo Ren stopped them by firing torpedoes at the hanger, resulting in the deaths of Lintra and Starck, and the destruction of Blue Squadron's fighters.

Batuu

While providing escort for an Intersystem Transport Ship as it departed Batuu with new recruits for the Resistance, alongside Poe Dameron and another pilot "Red Two," an X-wing pilot identified as Blue Five was attacked by TIE fighters of the First Order. "Blue Five" perished when her fighter was destroyed.
