Tallissan Lintra

Tallissan Lintra, known by the moniker "Tallie," was a human female pilot. She held the ranks of lieutenant and squadron commander within the Resistance's naval division during the New Republic Era. Prior to her service in the Resistance, Lintra resided with her parents on a farm situated on the planet Pippip 3. It was there that she honed her flying skills using her father's vintage RZ-1 A-wing interceptor. She also had a sister, Kallie Lintra, who became a member of the Resistance as well. Following her enlistment in the Resistance, Lintra was involved in several missions aimed at combating a group of pirates operating in the Cassander sector. As the war against the First Order unfolded, Lintra gained recognition as one of the Resistance's most skilled pilots. She piloted a RZ-2 A-wing interceptor and served as Blue Leader during the evacuation of D'Qar, ultimately meeting her demise aboard the Raddus. Her death was caused by missiles fired from Kylo Ren's TIE silencer.

Biography

Joining the Resistance

Tallissan Lintra's birth occurred in 12 ABY, well after the dark days of the Galactic Empire. She had a sister named Kallie Lintra. During her formative years, Tallissan Lintra and her parents made their home on a farm located on the planet Pippip 3. It was on Pippip 3 that she acquired her flying abilities, utilizing her father's RZ-1 A-wing crop duster. Her time on Pippip 3 instilled in her a profound desire to safeguard the peace that the New Republic had ushered into the galaxy.

In 28 ABY, Princess Leia Organa established the Resistance. This small paramilitary organization was formed to stand against the First Order, the successor to the Galactic Empire. By 34 ABY, Lintra had joined the Resistance, driven by her dissatisfaction with the New Republic's response to the rise of the First Order. Her hope was to contribute to a future of freedom for the next generation of children and to be a part of history in the making. Lintra attained the rank of lieutenant within the Resistance navy and distinguished herself as one of their most accomplished pilots. Her piloting prowess impressed Poe Dameron.

Helping Dekkr

Lintra and the Resistance forces near the gas cloud received a distress signal that came from inside the cloud.

At some point after becoming a member of the Resistance, Lintra was overseeing a training exercise involving Stomeroni Starck and three other Resistance pilots. During this training session, which took place near an ionized gas cloud, Starck informed Lintra that the cloud was causing sensor disruptions and suggested that they abort the flight. Agreeing with this assessment, Lintra concluded that training without sensors was not ideal and notified the Free Virgillia-class Bunkerbuster Ninka of their intention to return to the ship. Using her callsign, she communicated to the Ninka that continuing the training session without functional sensors was pointless.

While en route back to the ship, the Resistance forces in the area were alerted by a distress signal. Upon receiving confirmation that the signal originated from within the cloud, Lintra changed course and entered the cloud in search of the stranded vessel. Once inside the cloud, her RZ-2 A-wing interceptor experienced a complete failure of its communications, sensor, and navicomputer systems. Despite these challenges, she successfully located the stranded ship.

Lintra helped Staaysha Dekkr to get out of the gas cloud.

To find any survivors, Lintra boarded the ship and began a search of its interior. During her search, she observed that the ship's systems were functioning properly and that the lights were set to manual lockdown. Noting that the internal communications system was operational, Lintra identified herself and inquired if anyone was aboard. As she repeated her message, a Duros individual named Staaysha Dekkr confronted Lintra, brandishing a blaster and mistaking her for a pirate. Dekkr attempted to confine Lintra to the brig. Confused by the situation, Lintra explained that she was there to provide assistance after receiving the ship's distress beacon. Dekkr recounted that, in an attempt to impress their boss by securing an early docking slot at Klytus V Station, they had attempted to navigate a shortcut through the nebula, resulting in sensor failure and the ship becoming lost within the nebula.

Lintra proceeded to the bridge to assess the situation and explore potential solutions. Seeking a viable approach, Lintra inquired whether the nebula had been mapped. Dekkr confirmed that it had, due to its status as a known navigational hazard. While examining the Nebula map, Lintra noticed the trail left by her A-wing starfighter's ion exhaust. Lintra then restarted the navicomputer, enabling the ship to lock onto the exhaust signature and follow it. After the navicomputer rebooted, Starck and the other T-70 X-wing starfighters arrived at the location of Dekkr's ship and attempted to make contact. However, Lintra informed Starck that she was already on board and assisting Dekkr. After helping Dekkr return to safety, Lintra accompanied Dekkr aboard the Ninka where they met Amilyn Holdo. Inside the ship Dekkr expressed to be thankful for the Resistance help and shared the map for the gas cloud, which would be uploaded to the Resistance databanks.

Cassander sector campaign

Lintra's A-wing squadron was stationed on the Ninka during their campaign in the Cassander sector.

In 34 ABY, the Resistance discovered that pirates supported by the First Order had begun to attack star systems within the Cassander sector. In response to the potential loss of the sector to the First Order, the Resistance dispatched Lintra and her A-wing squadron, along with bombers from Cobalt and Crimson Squadron, to the sector. The Resistance's first target in the sector was the destruction of a pirate-controlled spaceport on Mamkoda. Lintra and her squadron were tasked with protecting the bombers as they executed their attack run on the spaceport. Throughout the battle, Lintra and her squadron faced significant resistance from the pirates, yet the Resistance bombers successfully destroyed their designated target.

Three days following the mission on Mamkoda, Lintra and the Resistance forces undertook a relief mission to Caraxl. As the bombers began to deliver essential supplies, Lintra alerted them to the presence of First Order TIE fighters approaching on an intercept course. Given their orders to avoid direct confrontation with First Order vessels, the mission was aborted, and they returned to the Ninka. Upon their return, they learned that the pirates' base was located on Sheh Soahi. Armed with this information, Resistance forces were able to destroy the base and secure evidence of the First Order's alliance with the pirates.

Evacuation of D'Qar

Tallissan Lintra was present when General Organa ordered the evacuation of D'Qar.

In the wake of the destruction of Starkiller Base, ships from the Resistance fleet arrived at D'Qar, bringing with them new starfighters to augment the existing forces stationed at the Resistance base. After the Resistance became aware of the First Order's regrouping efforts, Lintra attended a briefing where General Organa issued the order to evacuate the planet. Shocked by this decision, Lintra discussed it with Suralinda Javos. During the briefing, Dameron formulated a plan to safeguard the evacuation ships. Lintra and the A-wings were assigned to serve as the primary defense for the fleet. Dameron also conceived a strategy to destroy a Mandator IV-class Siege Dreadnought after obtaining schematics from Inferno Squad. As part of this plan, squadron commander Lintra, piloting an A-wing starfighter and leading Blue Squadron, was entrusted with the critical role of commanding the Resistance starfighter forces and escorting the bombers to the dreadnought.

Following the arrival of the First Order fleet at D'Qar, Lintra and her fighters began their approach to the dreadnought after Commander Dameron had eliminated all the turbolasers on the Fulminatrix's surface. As they drew closer to the dreadnought, Lintra instructed the bombers to maintain formation and playfully cautioned her wingmate, Stomeroni Starck, to avoid getting sidetracked into dogfights. During their approach, Ben Teene identified several TIE fighters closing in formation. Lintra likened their formation to dire hounds unleashed among whellays back on her home planet of Pippip 3. Once the TIE Fighters were within striking distance, the Resistance fighters engaged them in combat, striving to clear a path for the bombers. Upon reaching the dreadnought, Lintra ordered the bombardiers to initiate their dropping sequence. However, the majority of the bombers were destroyed when a spiraling TIE cockpit triggered the proton bombs in one of the bombers. The sole surviving bomber successfully released its explosives, resulting in the dreadnought's destruction. As the dreadnought exploded, Lintra and the remaining fighters returned to the Raddus and jumped into hyperspace.

Attack on the Resistance fleet

Tallissan Lintra moments before her death.

After the escape from D'Qar, the Resistance fleet emerged from hyperspace in the remote Oetchi system. Unbeknownst to the Resistance, the First Order had tracked them through hyperspace and initiated an attack on their fleet. Lintra, while sleeping, experienced a dream in which she was tasked with protecting the Resistance bombers, but she was unable to see them, only hearing the screams of their pilots as they perished. Awakened by a klaxon in the Raddus ready room, Lintra and Starck glanced at the holotank in confusion, realizing that the First Order fleet had pursued them. After donning her boots and flight vest, Lintra made her way to the hangar. In the hangar, Lintra and the other fighters began to power up their ships in preparation for engaging the First Order. Before they could launch, Kylo Ren launched a pair of missiles into the hangar from his TIE silencer, killing Lintra and destroying the starfighters.

Legacy

Emil Graf told Crater the story of Lintra's encounter with Dekkr.

Some time after Lintra's encounter with Staaysha Dekkr, the story became known to Emil Graf, who shared it with his BB-series astromech droid BB-00 and the monster droid CR-8R "Crater" aboard the Star Herald. Graf recounted the story in an effort to help Crater overcome his fear of being unable to see after Graf replaced his photoreceptors crystals. After hearing the entire story, Crater began to feel better, and Graf took him to maintenance for an oil bath.

Following the Resistance's establishment of their base on the jungle moon of Ajan Kloss, a squadron of RZ-2 A-wings was renamed the "Tallie Torchers." Lintra's legacy was further honored by fellow A-wing pilot Merl Cobben, who felt a particular sense of gratitude towards Lintra for saving his life in a previous engagement. In 35 ABY, the Resistance launched an attack on the Final Order, a fleet assembled by the Sith Eternal cult, on the Unknown Regions' planet of Exegol. As part of the Exegol air team, Tallissan Lintra's sister, Kallie Lintra, was killed after eight Sith TIE fighters surrounded her A-wing. Following her death, Poe Dameron paused and expressed sorrow over the loss of both Tallissan and Kallie Lintra during the war.

Personality and traits

Tallie Lintra was considered one of the most capable pilots in the Resistance.

Tallissan Lintra was a human female with fair skin, blue eyes, blonde hair, and a height of 1.73 meters, or five feet and eight inches. Lintra's piloting skills impressed the Resistance ace pilot Poe Dameron, establishing her as one of the most skilled pilots in the Resistance. She undertook various roles within the Resistance, ranging from leading relief missions to escorting starships.

Her piloting skills originated from her experience flying an old RZ-1 A-wing as a crop duster on her homeworld of Pippip 3. With her expertise on the RZ-1, Lintra considered flying the newer RZ-2 A-wing to be as easy as lacing her boots. The Resistance leadership recognized her leadership potential, leading to their decision to entrust her with command of Blue Squadron during the evacuation of D'Qar. Lintra was also known for her ability to quickly adapt to unexpected changes or developments in battles and leverage them to her advantage. During the evacuation of D'Qar, Lintra's ability to rapidly assemble the fighter squadrons made her an indispensable asset to the operation.

Lintra cared deeply for her fellow pilots and feared being unable to assist them during combat. After the battle at D'Qar, she began to experience nightmares in which she was unable to see the other pilots, only hearing their screams as they were killed. Lintra also maintained a close relationship with her wingmate, Stomeroni Starck, often joking with him and attempting to keep him focused.

Tallissan Lintra developed a strong sense of valuing and protecting the peace that the New Republic had brought to the galaxy. This conviction motivated her to join the Resistance, after she became frustrated with the way the New Republic was handling the rise of the First Order.

Equipment

Tallie Lintra's helmet

Lintra wore a standard green Resistance pilot uniform that included a FreiTek life support unit attached to her vest and a Guidenhauser ejection harness. She also wore a synthsilk scarf gifted to her by her father as a symbol of luck. Lintra's red and white flight helmet featured a yellow Rebel Alliance starbird and the letters "DA" in Aurebesh, representing "Deadly Approach," a punchline to a well-known pilot's joke. Lintra piloted a blue marked RZ-2 A-wing starfighter and carried a blaster pistol with her.

Behind the scenes

Tallie Lintra was portrayed by Hermione Corfield.

Tallissan Lintra was brought to life by English actress Hermione Corfield in the 2017 Star Wars sequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which was both written and directed by Rian Johnson. In the film's end credits, the character was credited as "A-Wing Pilot Tallie," but she was later identified as "Tallissan Lintra" in the movie's Visual Dictionary and Incredible Cross-Sections reference books released in conjunction with the film. Rian Johnson first announced Corfield's involvement in the film on his Twitter account on October 3, 2017.

Prior to her appearance in the film, Tallissan Lintra was first mentioned in the 2017 activity book Star Wars: A-wing Deluxe Book and 3D Wood Model, authored by Michael Kogge. She later made her debut in the 2017 video game Star Wars Battlefront II, during its The Last Jedi season. This season introduced Tallie's RZ-2 A-Wing fighter as one of the playable starfighter hero units. Tallie's A-wing was added to the game two days before the film's release, on December 13, 2017.

Tallissan Lintra's dialogue is expanded upon in the movie's novelization. During the opening sequence, in which Lintra and the Resistance forces approach the First Order dreadnought, the Resistance forces are positioned farther away than in the film, allowing for a brief interaction between Lintra and Stomeroni Starck.

Tallissan Lintra is a playable character in the 2020 mobile game Star Wars: Starfighter Missions, developed by Lucasfilm and JOYMAX.
