Mamkoda spaceport

A spaceport existed on the planet Mamkoda, which was situated within the Cassander sector. In the year 34 ABY, a local group of pirates, supported by the First Order, gained control of the spaceport and reinforced it, transforming the location into their operational headquarters.

Description

This spaceport was found on Mamkoda, a planet that resides within the Cassander sector, itself a component of the broader Trans-Hydian Borderlands region.

History

MG-100 StarFortress bombers were able to destroy the spaceport

During the Cold War in 34 ABY, a tense period between the First Order, the continuation of the Galactic Empire, and the Resistance, a paramilitary organization headed by New Republic senator Leia Organa, a local group of pirates, operating from Sheh Soahi and with the backing of the First Order, took possession of the spaceport situated on Mamkoda. They then fortified it, using it as their operational center on that world.

Upon discovering the First Order's plan to dominate the sector by providing weapons and starships to the pirates, the Resistance dispatched a squadron of A-wing starfighters and MG-100 StarFortress bombers with the aim of protecting the sector from the pirate threat. The Resistance's initial goal was to neutralize the spaceport, which had been converted into a base of operations, on the planet Mamkoda. Following a battle against the pirates, bombers from the Resistance's Crimson and Cobalt Squadron successfully demolished the spaceport.

Sometime time after the conflict, Paige Tico, a Resistance gunner, documented the events surrounding the spaceport and the subsequent battle in her personal journal. This journal eventually came into the possession of her sister, Rose Tico, following her death during the Battle of D'Qar.

Behind the scenes

The spaceport received its initial mention in The Last Jedi: Bomber Command, a canon replica journal book released in 2017 and authored by Jason Fry.
