Bordok

Bordoks were a type of herbivorous equine species that were sure-footed and native to the forest moon of Endor. These creatures were used by the sentient Ewoks as both pack animals and as mounts, due to their ability to carry substantial loads for their relatively small size.

Biology and appearance

As an equine [species](/article/species], bordoks shared a lineage with other rideable creatures found across the galaxy, such as pulgas, fathiers, orbaks, and tris. These sure-footed animals were able to carry significant weight relative to their small stature.

Behavior

Known for their friendly nature, bordoks were easily domesticated. Their diet was herbivorous, consisting of plants.

History

Bordoks evolved on the forested moon of Endor, a satellite that orbitted a planet also named Endor, situated within the Moddell sector of the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. The Ewoks, a small sentient species also originating from Endor, domesticated bordoks, utilizing them as both riding animals and for carrying goods. Despite their strength relative to their size, Ewoks sometimes preferred the larger and more powerful blurrgs, a bipedal reptilian species, for more demanding tasks.

Behind the scenes

The bordok made its initial appearance in the Star Wars Legends storybook, Wicket Finds a Way: An Ewok Adventure, authored by Melinda Luke and published in 1984. The species' status as canon was later confirmed with its inclusion in the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015.
