Fathier

Fathiers constituted a species of four-legged creatures inhabiting the galaxy. Frequently employed as riding animals, wealthy individuals from Kergans and Cantonica utilized them for equestrian events, known as competition.

Biological Traits and Physical Description

Characterized as a quadrupedal species, fathiers possessed distinctive features such as elongated legs, brown fur covering their bodies, and sizable ears that served to dissipate excess body heat. Fathiers demonstrated the capability to achieve remarkable speeds, reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour, while traversing diverse terrains encompassing beaches, open fields, and precipitous cliff sides. Their swiftness rendered them highly desirable among affluent inhabitants of the galaxy, who esteemed these creatures for their elegance and grandeur. Typically, fathiers attained a height of three meters at the shoulder, often eliciting astonishment from those encountering them for the first time due to their considerable stature. When confined, fathiers necessitated rigorous endurance exercises, prompting the incorporation of double-gravity chambers within fathier transports. They were also known for emitting a pungent, spicy fragrance.

Behavioral Patterns

Fathiers exhibited the capacity for domestication, leading to their utilization as mounts in competitive events. The residents of the planet Cantonica capitalized on these creatures by staging immensely popular races held at the Canto Bight racetracks, wherein the animals endured mistreatment.

Historical Context

In the year 231 BBY, a duo of fathiers was showcased at the Republic Fair. Around the time of 1 BBY, Spectre members and Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger, during an exploration of the World Between Worlds, stumbled upon a peculiar portal adorned with constellation-esque depictions of fathiers. However, he did not investigate or pass through it.

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, the Alliance to Restore the Republic made use of fathiers ridden by Tognath mercenaries in swift, tactical combat operations.

In the year 34 ABY, Resistance agents Finn and Rose Tico journeyed to Cantonica in pursuit of a Master Codebreaker. During their investigation, the pair encountered difficulties with the Canto Bight Police Department and sought refuge within the fathier stables located at the Canto Bight racetrack. Aided by stable hand Temiri Blagg, Finn and Tico liberated the fathiers, utilizing one as a means of evading the police force.

Fathiers' Presence in the Galaxy

At some juncture in his life, the Corellian Geb Teldar earned a livelihood by cleaning the stalls of fathiers. Lorica Demaris, a Zeltron hailing from the planet Kergans, acquired proficiency in riding fathiers for competitive purposes, an activity she detested. Fathiers were observed across various regions of the galaxy, yet their homeworld remained shrouded in mystery.
