Calin, an assistant in the antiquities store of Dok-Ondar, the Ithorian collector, was employed by him on the planet [Batuu], which is located in the Outer Rim. He became acquainted with [Tap], a human, and Julen Rakab, a farmer, who were also employed at the store. In approximately 34 ABY, Calin abandoned his position, assaulted his employer due to his allegiance to the First Order, and confined the Ithorian within the establishment's vault.
Calin ran from the store and later took part in a disturbance at Batuu's Black Spire Outpost, where he endeavored to persuade Batuuans to accept the First Order's governance. On that day, Dok-Ondar was rescued from the locked chamber by Rakab and his companion, Izal Garsea. The Ithorian, in a fit of rage, denounced Calin as a betrayer and recounted how his former apprentice had imprisoned him.

Calin was a resident of the planet [Batuu], situated in the Outer Rim, and lived as an orphan by the time of the war involving the First Order and the Resistance. He sought employment within the Black Spire Outpost settlement on Batuu, ultimately securing a position as an assistant to Dok-Ondar, the Ithorian collector, in his antiquities store. His responsibilities included package delivery and storefront management. At some point, Calin made friends with [Tap], a human, and Julen Rakab, a farmer, who were fellow employees. As time passed, he progressed to the role of Dok-Ondar's apprentice.
At a certain juncture, the First Order enlisted Calin, and he demonstrated his commitment to their cause. In 34 ABY, Calin was instructed by his superior to recover debts from a pair of smugglers who owed the shop money but had absconded, fearing the First Order's presence on Batuu. Calin and another runner declined the assignment, resigning to continue their support for the First Order. Due to the need for timely deliveries, Dok-Ondar instructed Tap to solicit Rakab's assistance. The farmer expressed surprise that one of the shop's runners would depart, given that most employees enjoyed their work amidst the unique antiquities.
As soon as Tap left the shop, Calin attacked Dok-Ondar to demonstrate his dedication to the First Order's principles, which he believed his former employer was undermining. During their confrontation, they toppled a metal goddess statue. After a short struggle, Calin gained the upper hand over Dok-Ondar. Although the assistant initially intended to kill him with a [weapon](/article/weapon], he panicked and instead locked the Ithorian in the store's safe. Calin then fled the shop, narrowly escaping before Tap and Rakab returned.

Later that day, Calin and his colleague participated in a riot at Black Spire Outpost. Rakab and his companion, the smuggler Izal Garsea, observed Calin in the crowd and noted his fervent conviction. Calin addressed a small gathering, attempting to convince natives of Batuu that their world had been overrun by debauchery, urging them to accept the First Order's rule.
Following the completion of their errand, Rakab and Garsea returned to Dok-Ondar's shop and noticed the Ithorian's absence, which was unusual. The farmer's investigation led him to suspect the overturned metal statue in the store, as Dok-Ondar typically maintained a tidy establishment. Eventually, they discovered the collector confined within the locked safe room at the rear of the establishment. Dok-Ondar vehemently denounced Calin as a traitor, asserting that Calin had overpowered his resistance. Rakab translated the Ithorian's account of the event for Garsea, noting that the former assistant had participated in the street blockade earlier that day.
For a period, Calin was content as Dok-Ondar's employee and advanced to become one of his apprentices. However, he eventually developed a disdain for his employer and resigned. Despite his initial intention to shoot the Ithorian, he became apprehensive and chose to flee. By this point, Calin genuinely believed that the First Order's governance of the galaxy was the sole means of restoring order and justice to Batuu. During a rally at Black Spire Outpost, he glared at those who disagreed with him, his eyes narrowed with certainty.
While on Batuu, Calin possessed a weapon that he nearly used to shoot Dok-Ondar before changing his mind. He wore simple farmer's clothing.
Calin made his debut in A Crash of Fate, a young-adult novel from 2019 authored by Zoraida Córdova.
