The Castilon gorgs represented a non-sentient subspecies belonging to the amphibious gorg species. Bitey was one such individual of this species.
This particular subspecies of gorg, the Castilon gorg, lacked sentience and possessed amphibian traits. Their diet was carnivorous, consisting primarily of large insects and other creatures.
During 34 ABY, Kazuda Xiono, a spy working for the Resistance, came into possession of a Castilon gorg. This occurred after he struck a bargain with Flix and Orka, two merchants, trading starship components needed to repair his racing starfighter, the Fireball. Originally intended as a meal, the merchants decided to keep the amphibian, subsequently naming him Bitey.
Although appearing without formal identification in "The Recruit", the two-part pilot episode of Star Wars Resistance's first season which aired on October 7, 2018, the Castilon gorg was later officially recognized in 2022. This recognition stemmed from merchandise available at the Creature Stall within the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed area. Colas Gauthier is credited with designing the gorgs.
