Chadian dressing was a dressing that had a tangy flavor and a blue hue. This condiment originated from Chad, the planet that serves as the homeworld for the Chadra-Fan species. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs encountered this condiment when he was asked by a Chadra-Fan fugitive for a taste of his native land. This occurred while Tuggs was in charge of the kitchen at Maz Kanata's castle on Takodana. Tuggs was surprised by the intense flavor of the simple sauce and how well it was received by individuals of different backgrounds and attitudes. Patrons of the castle could use bottles of the dressing while they dined. Following the destruction of the castle during the Battle of Takodana in 34 ABY, Tuggs released a cookbook that featured a recipe for the dressing, which he also used as an ingredient in Xizor Salad.
Chadian dressing initially appeared as a prop within the 2015 sequel trilogy movie, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Its identification was first provided in the reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and published the day after the film's release.
The dressing was featured in the 2019 recipe collection, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, penned by Marc Sumerak and Chelsea Monroe-Cassel. The out-of-universe recipe calls for ingredients such as white wine vinegar, light olive oil, water, minced garlic, salt, pepper, a blend of dried herbs like oregano and marjoram, crumbled blue cheese, and blue food coloring.
