The Charge Matrica was a competition initiated by the Sith Lord Vilia Calimondra during the era known as the Republic Dark Age.
In 1066 BBY, Calimondra commenced the Charge Matrica to select the successor from her seven offspring to inherit her vast territories. She charged each of them with the task of expanding her dominion, intending to designate the one who achieved the greatest territorial gains as her heir. However, Xelian, her daughter, initiated hostilities against her sibling Chagras, which then escalated into a conflict involving all seven siblings. As Vilia refused to intervene in the disputes among her children, Sith expansion in the Outer Rim was significantly hampered by this internal strife. Eventually, sometime before or during 1050 BBY, Chagras emerged as the sole surviving child of Calimondra, leading to her appointing him as her heir. Consequently, Chagras ascended to rule an empire known as the Chagras Hegemony.
Nevertheless, with Vilia still living, she maintained dominion over the majority of her holdings. Chagras was only assured the collaboration of his numerous nieces and nephews in the subsequent reconstruction efforts. By 1042 BBY, Chagras had sufficiently rebuilt his military forces to initiate an offensive against the Galactic Republic. Under the command of Lord Odion, Hegemony forces launched attacks on Sanbra and Aquilaris Minor as part of a highly classified project aimed at acquiring the Helm of Ieldis, an ancient Sith artifact originating from the time of the Great Hyperspace War.
In 1040 BBY, following the death of Chagras, Calimondra initiated a Second Charge Matrica to determine which of her grandchildren would become her new heir. However, her grandchildren Daiman and Odion engaged in warfare against each other, which soon spread to involve the rest of her grandchildren in a widespread conflict.
