The Chinnith functioned as a troop carrier shuttle for the Galactic Alliance. It docked at the superweapon known as Centerpoint Station during a battle that occurred in 40 ABY during the Second Galactic Civil War. While seeking an exit from the station, Five World Prime Minister Sadras Koyan of the Confederation mistakenly boarded the shuttle. Inside, he was confronted by the Chinnith's Chev pilot, who fatally shot him before Koyan could use his own blaster.
During the Second Galactic Civil War in 40 ABY, the Confederation and the Galactic Alliance were at war. The Chinnith served in the navy of the Galactic Alliance. In that year, the Galactic Alliance initiated a fleet operation to capture Centerpoint Station, a superweapon located in the Corellian system, from the Confederation. The Chinnith participated in this operation, crewed in part by a Chev female pilot. Throughout the conflict, the Galactic Alliance utilized troop shuttles to deploy Galactic Alliance Guards and other commandos onto Centerpoint Station.
Following the boarding actions, the Chinnith was docked at Centerpoint Station's Air Lock Epsilon Thirty-four G, with the Chev pilot remaining on board. After being misled by Denjax Teppler, his Minister of Information, into believing that a Confederate shuttle was located at Air Lock Epsilon Thirty-four G, Five World Prime Minister Sadras Koyan entered the Chinnith hoping to escape Centerpoint Station as he fled from the Galactic Alliance forces present on the superweapon. Upon entering the shuttle and demanding transport to Coronet City on the planet Corellia, Koyan found himself face-to-face with the Chev pilot. Both individuals realized they were on opposing sides of the conflict. The Chev officer reacted quickly, drawing her blaster and shooting killing Koyan inside the Chinnith. Subsequently, she contacted the Galactic Alliance Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Anakin Solo to report what had occurred. Later, the Chinnith departed the station carrying Koyan's body. The battle concluded with the destruction of Centerpoint Station due to sabotage carried out by the Jedi Coalition, which also resulted in the loss of significant portions of both the Galactic Alliance and Confederate fleets in the subsequent explosion.
The Chinnith made its appearance in 2007's Legacy of the Force: Fury, penned by Aaron Allston. The novel did not explicitly state whether the Chinnith was used to deploy troops onto Centerpoint Station, nor did it confirm if the shuttle survived the station's destruction.
