Clone troopers specialized for arctic warfare, also referred to as cold assault clone troopers, represented a unique modification of the standard clone troopers in the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the Clone Wars. To effectively engage in battles within extremely cold climates, they utilized HT-77 Cold Assault Armor in conjunction with other specialized equipment designed for cold weather. Their deployments included planets such as Rhen Var, Toola, and Orto Plutonia. Furthermore, on Orto Plutonia, they operated freeco bikes. During the One-Day War, a platoon belonging to the 501st Legion adopted cold-assault equipment, effectively functioning as clone cold assault troopers. Subsequently, the Galactic Empire drew inspiration from this clone trooper variant in the design of their cold weather assault stormtroopers.
