Colonial Station Chaf was a planetary body situated within the Chiss Ascendancy's domain, found within the Unknown Regions. This planet bore the same designation as the esteemed Chaf family, a prominent member of the Nine Ruling Families within the Chiss Ascendancy. The communications triad located at Colonial Station Chaf served as a vital link, relaying messages to the Xodlak family task force commanded by Senior Captain Xodlak'in'daro as they journeyed toward the planet Hoxim.
The Kilji Illumine government, during their conquests of territories south and southeast of the Ascendancy, utilized a long-range triad transmitter on Colonal Station Chaf, part of their Illumine Kilhorde battle fleet, to maintain communication with their leader, Generalirius Nakirre. Nakirre received reports of triumph from his field commanders through this transmitter; however, one day these reports abruptly ceased. This led him to suspect that his generals had imprudently extended their conquests to Colonial Station Chaf, potentially disrupting the transmitter's functionality. The truth, however, was that the Kilhorde had been destroyed by the Paataatus Hiveborn government, who considered the fleet's activities near their borders unacceptable and dispatched a Paataatus attack fleet to eliminate them.
Within Star Wars canon, the initial reference to Colonial Station Chaf occurred in the 2021 novel titled Thrawn Ascendancy: Greater Good, penned by Timothy Zahn. This novel served as the second installment in the Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy. Subsequently, it appeared on a map provided by Del Rey, the publisher, as a pre-order incentive for the trilogy's concluding novel, Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil. It mirrors the name and location of the Chiss Colonial Station Chaf system from Star Wars Legends, which was first introduced in the 2009 reference work The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry.
